Following their refurbishment in 2007-8 the presentation of the Art East Wing Galleries at National Museum Cardiff has been completely rethought. The aim is to make the historic art galleries more flexible, more stimulating, and to tell a greater range of stories, including the development of a specific 'Art in Wales' narrative. The starting point has been recent public consultation (especially 'Views of the Future' and our Vision).
The redisplay of the Centre Block and the West Wing Art Galleries at National Museum Cardiff will extend the new approaches to redisplay currently being undertaken in the East Wing. They will be an important element in the overall development and delivery of a National Museum of Art. A key aim for this project is to use the collections to explore a greater range of stories and place the achievements of Welsh artists in an international context.
