The study of the interrelationships between organisms at all levels has benefited greatly in recent years from the use of DNA-based analyses. The relationships within the largest spioniform family Spionidae, and between the Spionidae, Poecilochaetidae, Trochochaetidae and Uncispionidae are subject to much debate. This study aims to work alongside traditional morphological taxonomy to better understand the relationships within 'spioniform' polychaetes.
