Dear Sir
I received an email from my sister stating my cousin Alison was researching my grandmothers family tree. I was informed Stephenson Bonynge was my grandmothers grandfather. I have lived in Spain for the last 20 years, I authorise you to forward my email address to possible relatives. I confess I have lost contact with my relatives . Kind Regards James Bowles

This painting by Stephen Bonynge was painted by my wife's Great Grandfather and would like to request an appointment to view it please. Could you also include the post code of the address as we would be travelling from Bristol.

Dear Michael,

Thank you for your message and the interest in this painting. There is very little about Bonynge in our files unfortunately, but I have found reference that he also painted two biblical scenes in 1879. This painting has been roughly dated to around 1915. As you know from the website, the painting was gifted to the Museum by a Mrs Lester Jones of Cardiff on the 7th of November 1917.

The painting is currently in store at our Collections Centre at Nantgarw, you are most welcome to come to visit at your convenience. It would be our pleasure to show you the work of your great great grandfather! Please feel free to contact me directly to arrange an appointment.

Best wishes,
Neil

Hello

By coincidence I've just come across you website whilst searching my ancestry on my mother's Bonynge side and I believe Stephenson Bonynge is my 2xgreat grandfather so was amazed to find this painting. He appears on the 1881 Census describing himself as "Artist, Portrait, Painter". I would be very grateful if you could give me any information you have regarding this painting and it's provenance, together with its current whereabouts.

Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Michael
