The identity of this man is unknown, although his cap suggests he was a sculptor. His sensitive expression and the fine moulding of his face and beard show the vitality of Dalou’s technique. Alongside Auguste Rodin and Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux he was considered one of the most important French sculptors of the period. As a teacher he inspired many others, in France and Britain.

I've made a Master on Dalou whith Orsay Museum and Petit Palais Museum, both in Paris.
This bust seems to be the one of Sir Lawrence Alma Tadema, exposed at the Royal Academy in 1874.
