Probably painted in the studio rather than from life, the composition of this small oil of 1911-12 reveals the influence of Augustus John, to whom it belonged.

The figure in the painting Girl standing by a Lake and Girl in a Cottage is probably Euphemia Lamb (1886-1957). Innes arrived at Arenig in late 1910 on the rebound from a love affair with Euphemia Lamb, an artists model and part of the mileau around Augustus John. In 1911 at the cottage (Nant Ddu) located just below Arenig Innes was joined by Augustas John, Derwent Lees and Ian Strang (1886-1952) at various times along with an assortment of woman, one of whom was Euphemia Lamb.
The emblematic feel of Girl by a Lake does suggest a studio work but it is possible that the background image of the twin peaks of Arenig was painted first (at Arenig?) and the figure added later.
The painting Girl in a Cottage most likely depicts the interior of the cottage at Arenig. The size of panel Innes has used fits with others he used on location outside at Arenig, such as in Arenig (NMW A 202) in your collection.
I hope these obversatations are helpful.
