How do you like your brew? More than just a quick cuppa, in Japan the act of serving tea has become an art – a performance of beauty and grace inspired by the principles of Zen Buddhism. Join Yoko Kawaguchi for a special talk on the Japanese Tea Ceremony and the Tea Garden.


Yoko is a Cardiff-based writer and cultural historian specialising in Japanese gardens and the relationship between Japan and the West. Her publications include Sisters: The Geisha in Western Culture and Japanese Zen Gardens. She is an expert in Japanese gardens, and the relationship between Japan and the West.


The talk will be held in English, but simultaneous translation to Welsh can be provided. Please contact us on events@museumwales.ac.uk to let us know your language preference.
