Amalric Walter (1870-1959) was a master of the complex pâte-de-verre glassmaking technique. Born in Sèvres, Walter’s father and grandfather worked as ceramic painters at the city’s world-renowned porcelain factory. In this talk, Kari Moodie will introduce the remarkable collection of glass by Walter at Broadfield House Glass Museum. Each of the 166 pieces incorporates a zoological motif – from bumble bees and turtles to cockatoos and chameleons. This talk is organised in conjunction with the exhibition Maurice Marinot: A Passion for Glass.
