Chair
Oak chair won by Iorwerth C. Peate at the Student Eisteddfod held in Aberystwyth in 1921. The chair has the signature of the wood-carver, Emile De Vynck, on the back. He was a Belgian refuguee who came to Wales from Mechelen during the First World War. De Vynck and his family, along with other Belgians, were given refuge by Lloyd George in Pentrefelin, north Wales. He made other eisteddfod chairs and carved wooden pieces which have remained in the area.
The back has two fielded panels and the upper panel has a carved shield with carvings of a book bearing inscription, a leek motif on either side and carvings on the base of the shield.
