Notes and a rough plan in English, dated 1938, in the hand of the Rt. Hon. W.G.A. Ormsby-Gore (11 April 1885 - 14 February 1964), an MP who later became Lord Harlech, and giving details on his house Glyn Cywarch in Merioneth, a Grade II listed manor built in 1616 by William Wynn. It was a reply to the National Museum's questionnaire of 1937 on Welsh folk culture. Also included is a letter to Sir Cyril Fox from W.G.A. Ormsby Gore. Lord Harlech was an MP for the constituency of Denbigh Boroughs. He had a great interest in museums and was a trustee of the National Gallery and Tate Gallery, and served as chairman of the advisory commitees of both the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Standing Commission on Museums and Galleries from 1948 to 1956. His son David Ormsby-Gore, the 5th Lord Harlech, was a British Ambassador to the United States between1961 and 1965, and had close links with the Kennedy family.

Questionnaire on Welsh Folk Culture, 1937 Prepared by the Department of Folk Culture, National Museum of Wales, and published in 1937. The questionnaires were sent to parishes, schools and individuals as a way of collecting information about all aspects of Welsh folk culture. The questionnaire was divided into the following subject areas: domestic life, corporate life, cultural life, crafts and industries. The museum was keen to engage with the people of Wales and the questionnaire respondents to collect objects and stories as a basis for establishing the Welsh Folk Museum in 1948.
