Figurine
Two women wearing Welsh costume sitting at a tea table with Rev. John Jones. Along the front of the base are the word "A pastoral visit by Rev. John Jones". On the underside the word Germany has been stamped in ink, and on the back are the numbers 3119.
The Welsh lady became a marketing gimmick. She appeared on china, jugs, plates, tea towels and all kinds of souvenirs. The development of the railways in the middle of the 1880s brought new tourists to Wales. Souvenirs became all the rage. The industry contributed to the Welsh costume becoming a national icon.
