S.S. GRAINTON, glass negative

S.S. GRAINTON (6341gt). Built 1929 by Short Brothers Ltd., Sunderland for R.Chapman & Sons of Newcastle. She sailed in many convoys during World War 2, including eight transatlantic to Freetown and Sierra Leone, usually transporting grain. 1950 - Sold to Johs. Fritzen & Sohn GMBH of Emden, Germany, and renamed KATHARINA DOROTHEA FRITZEN. She arrived at Yokosuka, Japan, in April 1961 for breaking.
