In 1903 he was appointed Engraver at the Royal Mint. Heavily influenced by French medallists and excelled at portraiture.)
John Pinches Ltd (Originally set up as 'Pinches Bros'. By 1850 John Pinches had set up in business on his own in Oxendon Street, London. He was succeeded by his son and grandson (also both called John).
In 1940 the company was registered as John Pinches (Medallists) Ltd.
In 1969 the company was sold to Franklin Mint Inc.)
Medal celebrates the jubilee of the joint paper published by the Linnean Society of London in 1858.
