Chair
This chair won the competition for the best bardic chair in 1896 at the Llandudno Eisteddfod. It was carved by Henry Williams from Llangefni, Anglesey and is a typical example of a traditional bardic chair: a massive oak chair carved with the emblems of the Gorsedd of the Bards along with the name and date of the Eisteddfod. Henry Williams was also the maker of the 1895 chair at the Llanelli Eisteddfod which is very similar in design. It was awarded to the poet Rev. Ben Davies who won his first bardic chair in 1885, aged 21.
The arms are fronted by lions. The panel back has a dragon within a roundel. The cresting shows two harpists and Prince of Wales's feathers.
