The Recipe

You will need

  • three pounds blackcurrants
  • three pints cold water
  • six pounds sugar

Method

  1. Pour the water over the fruit, bring to the boil and simmer for fifteen minutes. 
  2. Add the sugar, and boil for a further ten minutes. 
  3. Add the sugar, and boil for a further ten minutes. 
  4. Leave to cool and pour into warm pots. 
  5. Cover the jam immediately.
