The version of the ‘Ideal Miner’ held by Amgueddfa Cymru is mainly made of fibreglass, and was one of a number of identical sculptures made for the Industrial Wales Exhibition held at Olympia in 1947.

It is currently on display at Big Pit: National Mining Museum. I have checked our records, and asked around, but we unfortunately do not know if an original sculptors maquette exists.

Thomas Idris Lewis was my grandfather. I am looking for the original 'Ideal Miner' sculpture of 1947 by Barney A Seale.

Many thanks
