There's something for everyone at the National Wool Museum, one of the Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales family of museums, from soft and sumptuous textiles to huge noisy machines. This is the place to come to find out more about the woollen industry in Wales, an industry which was so large that the small village of Dre-fach Felindre was once known as the Huddersfield of Wales, because of the number of woollen mills in the local area.

Most of the mills are closed by today, but there's real working woollen mill in the grounds of the museum, and visitors can call in to see Melin Teifi's woollen miller hard at work. Then, why not have a go at our Woolly Trail? It's a great way to explore the museum and to find out about everything on display. Remember, the art cart is also always available, crammed full of materials of all kinds to guarantee hours of creative fun for children of all ages.

Our shop is being developed as the place to buy Welsh textiles, but if blankets and shawls aren't your thing, you'll still find plenty of lovely gifts and mementos to remind you of your visit to the National Wool Museum. Call into our comfortable and welcoming café for a cuppa and a bite to eat. We use local produce and pride ourselves on our tasty snacks.

Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales operates seven national museums across Wales. These are National Museum Cardiff, St Fagans: National History Museum, National Roman Legion Museum, Caerleon, Big Pit: National Coal Museum, Blaenafon, National Wool Museum, Dre-fach Felindre, National Slate Museum, Llanberis and the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea.
