Camau Cymraeg launched at National Slate Museum

Welsh learners' pack Camau Cymraeg, which uses the National Slate Museum as a learning tool, was launched recently at Llanberis.

The event, aimed at tutors and those who will be using the pack from day to day, was attended by pack authors Elwyn Hughes and Ann Jones from University of Wales Bangor's Lifelong Learning Department, who outlined the contents of the pack, which includes guidance for tutors, worksheets for students and is especially written to reflect current language teaching strategies.

The pack follows the success two years ago of a similar pack at St Fagans: National History Museum, Llwybrau Llafar. Both are examples of the important work undertaken in the post–16 education sector by Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales.

Also attending the event were Welsh Assembly Government Minister for Culture, Welsh Language and Sport, Alun Pugh, Amgueddfa Cymru — National Museum Wales Head of Learning, Ceri Black, Head of Bilingual Learning at the National Assembly for Wales, Ann Jenkins and Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales's Director of Operations, John Williams-Davies.

Amgueddfa Cymru — National Museum Wales is responsible for seven national museums in Wales – St Fagans: National History Museum, National Museum Cardiff, National Roman Legion Museum, Caerleon, Big Pit National Coal Museum, Blaenafon, National Wool Museum, Dre-fach Felindre, National Slate Museum, Llanberis and the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea.

Entry to all Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales sites is free, thanks to the support of the Welsh Assembly Government.
