The much awaited visit of ten Italian Gladiators to the stunning Roman Amphitheatre in Caerleon is just about upon us.

This Saturday and Sunday (1 & 2 July), the Gladiators, who are part of the re-enactment group Ars DImicandi will be showing off their skill and daring at Caerleon’s annual Military Spectacular.

Museum Manager, Bethan Lewis said: “We are very excited to have the men from the Gladiatorial troupe join us again this year. They bring a unique blend of daring and skill to the Military Spectacular, and never fail to wow the crowds of all ages.”

She added “Along with the Gladiators, we have an appearance by the Ermine Street Guard, who march into the Amphitheatre and show the full pomp and grandeur of the Roman Empire. Children can take part by joining the ‘Junior Legion’ and marching into the Amphitheatre under the watchful eye of the Roman Guard, And the rest of the family can browse around the tented village and visit a Roman Physician, buy Roman wares and even get a Roman massage.”

The Military spectacular takes place on Saturday 1 & Sunday 2 July at the Roman Amphitheatre in Caerleon, 11am – 5pm. Admission £4 Adults, £2 Children and £10 Family.
