Important Road Closure News: Bridge Erection on Fabian Way - It is intended that the superstructure erection will take place over weekends commencing 20 and 27 July 2007. Fabian Way will have to be closed in both directions for these weekends. Closure will commence between 7.00 pm and 10.00 pm on the Friday of these weekends and extend until 6 am on the Monday morning.

Full road closures are required for the safety of the public, especially in mind on the size of requisite craneage and the time that is required for these machines to rig up and de-rig on completion. A period of approximately 8 hours is normally required for each of these operations.

There will also be need for off-peak lane closures and full overnight road closures during week days.

Erection stages

It should be noted that the crane operation is sensitive to weather conditions, especially high winds, and therefore the dates given below may have to be amended if such conditions affect the works. Additional closures have been ordered for the two subsequent weekends in case the erection is delayed.

This is purely a contingent arrangement to provide for adverse weather conditions.
