Half Term and Halloween Events

If you're looking for some fun family activities to keep young monsters busy this half term and Halloween, then the National Slate Museum Llanberis is the place to visit.

On 29 and 30 October 2007 the Museum will be taking part in the ‘The Big Draw,’  a national campaign to get people drawing! The Museum’s buildings and collections have inspired many artists over the years and this year the National Slate Museum will be focusing on its many shapes and spaces, particularly its collection of wooden patterns, as Marketing Officer Julie Williams explained:

“This year we’re running workshops for children based on the pattern loft and foundry. During the past year we have developed new storage areas for our fantastic collection of wooden patterns and now we want to literally ‘draw’ attention to these fantastic objects. The workshops will be run by local artist Catrin Williams and the children will help create art work which will help to interpret the pattern loft and pattern collections to our visitors.”

On 31 October 2007 there will be events to celebrate Halloween. Families can make spooky crafts, there will spooky face painting for children and a chance to meet the owls of the North Wales Bird Trust.

Admission to the Museum is free thanks to the support of the Welsh Assembly Government. The ‘Big Draw’ activities and Art Workshops are FREE but must be pre- booked by contacting Julie Williams on 01286 873707. There is a charge of £1 for the Halloween craft workshops which are drop-in.
