On the Slate at Winter Fair

News release 14 November 2007

Have a ‘Slate’ time this Christmas

WINTER FAIR: 2 December 2007

If you’re looking for some festive fun to usher in the Christmas Season, then head for the National Slate Museum, Llanberis, on 2 December between 11 am and 4 pm.

As well as Santa arriving on UNA – the museum’s own Hunslet engine – at 11 am, there’s a magical range of fun activities including music by Deiniolen Band, magic  shows, storytelling with Mari Gwilym and a crafts room for children to make a Seasonal craft to take home.

“The Winter Fair is a great way to welcome the Christmas and Winter Season,’ said Marketing Officer, Julie Williams “ and a nice way to remind people that we’re open for a visit throughout the year."

“Santa arrives by train at 11 am, welcomed by Deiniolen Silver Band. He will then be in his grotto until 3.45 pm seeing all the children who’ve come to visit and - of course - to give them a special gift.

“Our special Santa post box will be at the Museum, and we hope that children will bring their letters with them when they come to the fair to post them in the box - every letter gets a reply straight from Santa, and of course our Quarrymen’s Houses will also be decorated for the Christmas period.’

Admission to the Museum is free thanks to the support of the National Assembly but there is an additional cost to see Santa and for the craft workshops. For more information contact the Museum on (01286) 870630 or e-mail slate@museumwales.ac.uk.
