Dragons, dancing and daffodils bring the Waterfront to life this weekend

This Sunday (28 February 12-4pm), the National Waterfront Museum will come alive to mark St David’s Day with a mix of dancing, music and activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Come along dressed in your best Welsh finery to enjoy a selection of spring time arts and crafts including making bug boxes, planting sunflower seeds and creating your very own Welsh broach made out of felt. You will also get the chance to see how traditional Welsh love spoons are carved with Bob Ferris, a love spoon carver from Port Talbot.

Dancing and singing will be on the menu with a traditional Welsh Twmpath accompanied by band Pluck and Squeeze (as featured on Gavin & Stacey's memorable version of Islands in the Stream) and members of Kite Theatre will present a special play titled The Enormous Leek.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to take part in a dragon procession. Accompanied by the Dragon Lord, the magnificent red and gold Dragon guarantees hands-on fun for children, young people and adults as he plans to weave his way around the Museum.

“We’re delighted with the range of activities we’ve got on offer to mark this year’s St David’s Day,” said Events Officer Miranda Berry. “It’ll be a chance for the whole family to enjoy some free Welsh-inspired fun whether you decide to pop in for half an hour or all afternoon!”

The event at the Museum also supports the City and County of Swansea’s St David’s Week celebrations, Wales' only week long celebration of the Patron Saint of Wales, 22 February-1 March 2010. For more details visit www.saintdavidsday.com
