Sections of the Big Red Scarf knitted by Radio Wales listeners in support of the Welsh rugby squad during the 2010 Six Nations Championship are now on display at the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea.

Jamie Owen and Louise Elliott urged the people of Wales to join them with their knitting needles or red scarves as part of BBC Radio Wales’ Backing the Boys campaign. Knitters from across the nation and beyond teamed up to back the Welsh players by knitting an astounding 6572 feet - 1.25 miles of red scarf!

“The support we've received for our campaign is truly amazing,” said Louise. “Displaying sections of the scarf at the National Waterfront Museum is very appropriate because more people from Swansea got involved in the initiative than any other town or city in Wales!”

Delighted with the arrival of the scarf, Steph Mastoris, Head of Museum said: “It is wonderful how the scarf as been wrapped around nearly every part of the Museum’s balcony and we're over the moon to have it on display. When this Museum was built, it wasn’t just seen as a place to explore the industry of Wales, but very much as a location for cultural and community events - so this type of project is perfect for us to get involved with and support.”

The famous red scarf will be on display at the Museum from Friday 2 April to Monday 31 May.
