Holiday fun lined up at Waterfront

School’s nearly over for yet another year and the National Waterfront Museum is gearing up a fun-packed couple of weeks to keep the whole family entertained - and all for free!

From 3-8 August, children can get to grips with the technique of crane driving. Be a Crane Driver will give kids the chance to dress up in builder’s safety clothing and try lifting, slewing and tracking with a ¼ scale fully operational crane. Then from 9-13 August, families can try their hand at making their own skipping rope with a 19th century rope-making machine. Both events are drop-in and will take place from 1-4pm.

Highlights this summer include Eco Energy Weekend (20-22 August), a two-day event with plenty of children’s workshops, practical tips for the home and an amazing pedal-powered strawberry machine. On the same weekend at 1.30pm, budding film makers can enjoy a Solar Powered Film Making workshop where they will discover how solar powered films are made and view them in a special campervan cinema.

And there is more...

The Swansea Bay Craft Fair will return on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September highlighting local talents and products including teddy bears, jewellery and home-made fudge. Also taking place on Sunday 5 is a Vehicle Day, showcasing rare Welsh Gilbern cars, model railways, vintage fire engines and early prototype solar and electric cars.

“There’s something going on for everyone,” said Head of Museum, Steph Mastoris. “We’re very proud of the imaginative events and creative activities we host at the Museum throughout the year. With a variety of both indoor and outdoor events to choose from, there’s plenty to keep the children firmly away from any boredom this summer!”
