Returning to Cardiff, where she was brought up, Ms Lane will be based at National Museum Cardiff but will lead on learning, interpretation, exhibitions and digital developments across Amgueddfa Cymru’s seven sites in Wales.

Ms Lane brings with her a wealth of experience following 10 years working for Glasgow Museums/Glasgow Life where she was most recently Senior Museums Manager. Her portfolio included strategic leadership of four flagship Museum venues; the Zaha Hadid designed Riverside Museum, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Burrell Collection and Gallery of Modern Art. She was responsible for learning, social inclusion, public programming, digital and new media, interpretation, outreach and volunteer development and visitor experience across the service.

She had strategic responsibility for learning and interpretation for Glasgow Museums’ key capital projects including Kelvingrove Museum & Art Gallery and Riverside Museum of Transport & Technology. Ms Lane also had a corporate role in Glasgow Life, contributing to their policies on organisational change, learning, audience engagement and participation.

Winner of the Educational Initiative prize at the 2007 Museums and Heritage Awards for her ‘Glasgow Museums HLF Schools and Museums Project’, and the 2008 SHAP Award for Excellence in Religious Education programmes at St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art, are just two of Ms Lane’s achievements. Her innovative approach has created successful, diverse, multi-award winning learning and public programming across multi-venue museum service.

We are embarking on an exciting period for the Museum and for Wales, having recently secured Heritage Lottery Funding to re-develop St Fagans: National History Museum and I’m confident Ms Lane will contribute significantly to the development of the project as well as exciting new services for the public at Amgueddfa Cymru.”
