Little Mice Club debuts at Waterfront
Date:
2014-04-01Swansea’s National Waterfront Museum will launch a brand new bilingual monthly song and craft session for the under-fives in a push to widen its commitment to the Welsh language and further develop free activities for families.
The Little Mice Club, which kicks off this Friday, 4 April (10.30am-12.30pm), is a monthly drop in session organized in partnership with Menter Iaith Abertawe, Twf, Mudiad Meithrin and the Urdd.
It will feature a selection of themed crafts, songs and story time as well as introduce a brand new mascot, Morys the Museum Mouse.
The event has been designed to promote the benefits of bilingualism from an early age all in a fun and accessible way, as well as provide plenty to room to play and explore in the main hall and galleries.
“We are delighted to introduce this new event at the Museum and with the first theme celebrating spring, it will be a lovely way to start the initiative,” said Events Officer, Miranda Berry.
“Surrounded by Welsh heritage and culture, it’s the perfect place for little ones to start being introduced to the Welsh language, as well as a great opportunity for new parents to meet others,” she added.
Siwan Thomas of Twf said: “We are thrilled to be part of these monthly events and I’m looking forward to promoting Twf's message during these fun filled sessions.”
