Waterfront serves up Space and Spookiness this half term!

Half term has arrived and there is plenty going on to keep the whole family entertained at the National Waterfront Museum.

Taking place all this week is a Solar System Trail (until Sun 1 Nov) where families can hunt around 15 themed galleries to find out fascinating facts.

Also running all week (until Fri 30 Oct 12.30pm-3.30pm) is Three Cool Rockets where visitors can test pilot mini handmade rockets in a drop-in workshop.

Both events coincide with the launch of a brand new Wales in Space exhibition – a colourful and fascinating show filled with rockets, planets and stars.

On Saturday 31 Oct (12-4pm) and to help finish the week off in perfect Halloween style, the Museum will be celebrating the haunting season with a Halloween Spooky Funday.

There will be lots of creepy goings on inside one of Swansea’s most iconic buildings. Those attending will take part in a mix of creepy hands-on activities including a ghoulish trail, the chance to make crafts including a pop-up matchbox spider and a flying witch from a straw. They can also hear some horrible history storytelling and be fascinated with spooky science.

In the evening (6.30pm), the Museum will be supporting the national Museums at Night campaign and opening up its doors after dark to present Family Fright Night.

For just £2.50pp families can listen to weird and wonderful tales before watching a popular 3D family film shown in the Warehouse Gallery. Booking is essential for this event, please call (029) 2057 3600.

“It’s set to be a great start to the winter programme,” said Events Officer, Miranda Berry. “With the dark nights setting in and the weather getting colder, there is no better time to visit us and get the whole family involved with the free, fun, creative and educational programme we offer.”
