Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales has officially pledged its support to past and present Service Personnel by resigning the Armed Forces Covenant.

The Welsh Government sponsored body is family of seven museums located throughout the country. It is also part of a wider of network of 1,000 employers across the United Kingdom to pledge their support to the Armed Forces.

They signed the paperwork to officially finalise their commitment to the Armed Forces community alongside senior service representatives in Wales at a special ceremony held in National Museum Cardiff on Friday 20 April.

Lieutenant Colonel Ged Murphy, Commanding Officer of Third Battalion The Royal Welsh, said: “We’re proud to have National Museum Wales in the network of employers who have signed the Armed Forces Covenant. We are grateful for the support they provide to the Defence community through the employment of Reservists and other initiatives such as the Public History Armed Forces Project.

“The Armed Forces Covenant can be signed by businesses of all sizes, charitable organisations, local authorities and public sector organisations. It focuses on helping members of the Armed Forces community have the same access to government and commercial services and products as any other citizen.

“The signatories come from a wide spectrum of sectors and they are united in promising that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly, mindful of the moral obligation that the nation has to its service people.”
