Stretch Little Legs & Imagination at St Fagan's New Play Area

With the sun shining at the beginning of Pre-school playweek, where better to give those little couch potatoes a day of sweet fresh air and plenty of exercise for both their minds and bodies, than in the 100 acres of rolling fields, lanes and parklands at the Museum of Welsh Life?. With thousands of young children and their parents enjoying the site each year, St Fagan's has further developed its children's play area with a brand new playground for the youngest members of the family.

Built as a large wooden fort and surrounded by mature trees and wild life, the new children's area is perfectly placed next to the older children's playground - perfect for keeping all young members of the family happy and entertained while parents and guardians can rest easy at the new wooden seating area. Stretching little legs and imaginations, the play area is the perfect safe haven for budding Celts, pirates, princesses, dragon-slayers.

National Museums & Galleries of Wales' Director of Operations Mark Richards said:

"We are delighted to offer this new facility to our visitors. It is important to provide stimulation and play to all ages and the new children's play area is an ideal space for the young family to interact and play.

"We are very grateful to the Welsh Assembly Government who have funded this new playground and are happy to support the WAG Health Challenge Wales campaign with this new opportunity to play and exercise at the Museum."

Alun Pugh, Minister for Culture, Welsh Language and Sport said:

"It's important for Wales' visitor attractions to invest in their facilities in order to attract more visitors and make it an even more enjoyable day out for all members of the family. St Fagan's is a great family day out. The Welsh Assembly Government has invested significantly in our museums to make them more interesting, informative and fun."
