Summer Campaign Promotes Free Entry – For All

'Free fashion' is the catchy slogan being used as part of a special marketing campaign to promote the National Woollen Museum, Dre-fach Felindre, over the next few weeks, as part of a national campaign, reminding people that entry to all museums administered by the National Museums & Galleries of Wales (NMGW) is free of charge.

Four years after the Welsh Assembly Government introduced the free entry for all policy, the museums are attracting more visitors than ever before. The summer campaign will be reminding people locally - and nationally - of some of the treasures which can be seen at the six museums across the whole of Wales.

According to NMGW's Director of Communications, Robin Gwyn:

"Our aim this year is to remind people that the museums are excellent places to visit, so we've kept the message very simple – some and see some of Wales' greatest treasures ? free of charge."

Alun Pugh, Welsh Assembly Government Minister for Culture, Welsh Language and Sport, added:

"Keeping children entertained during the long summer break is a big task for parents. All six sites of the National Museums and Galleries of Wales offer visitors a taste of a different aspect of Welsh life but they all have one thing in common - free entry, supported by the Welsh Assembly Government - so people can enjoy an interesting and educational day out for nothing!"

NMGW sites are the National Museum & Gallery, Cardiff, Big Pit: National Mining Museum, Blaenafon ? winner of this year's prestigious Gulbenkian Prize ? Roman Legionary Museum, Caerleon, Museum of Welsh Life, St Fagans, National Woollen Museum, Dre Fach Felindre and the Welsh Slate Museum, Llanberis. Opening later this year is the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea, telling the innovative stories of the peoples and industry of Wales.

Entry to all NMGW sites is free, thanks to the support of the Welsh Assembly Government.
