Big Pit: the perfect place to treat yourself

Press Release - 27th December 2005

Big Pit is the perfect place to come to treat yourself to something special and memorable this Christmas.

Whether you’re looking for a special piece of jewellery or a miner’s lamp, the staff at the shop at Big Pit will be more than happy to help with your choice. There’s something in the shop for the whole family, books and CDs for Dad, coal figures, jewellery or fine porcelain for Mum and lots of pocket money essentials for the children.

So, why not combine a fun and free day out for the entire family with some shopping with a particularly Welsh flavour.

Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales is the new name for the National Museums & Galleries of Wales, which operates seven national museums across Wales. These are National Museum Cardiff, St Fagans: National History Museum, National Roman Legion Museum, Caerleon, Big Pit: National Coal Museum, Blaenafon – winner of the 2005 Gulbenkian Prize for Museum of the Year, National Wool Museum, Dre-fach Felindre, National Slate Museum, Llanberis and the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea.

Entry to all the museums is free, thanks to the support of the Welsh Assembly Government.
