Church wedding on the Waterfront?

Could Wales' top celeb couple Gavin Henson and Charlotte Church be the first to tie the knot at the new National Waterfront Museum in Swansea?

Rugby ace Gavin gave the thumbs up to the £33.5 million Museum - the same day that it was launched as Swansea's newest wedding venue.

The Ospreys star caused a stir among visitors as he enjoyed a couple of hours at the Museum which is set in the picturesque Maritime Quarter.

The Museum which tells Wales' story of industry and innovation has just been granted a civil wedding licence and couples are expected to jump at the chance of taking their vows at the magnificent building.

Since it opened in October thousands of visitors have poured through its doors. As well as the fascinating displays and exhibits the venue is available for hire and can hold banquets, business conferences and events.

Now couples are being given the chance to say ‘I do' from the Marina Balcony with its outstanding waterfront location and views.

The Welsh international and Lion's star was more than impressed with his visit which took place just days before the Heineken Cup clash against Leicester on Sunday (Dec 18) . After being interviewed on the Marina Balcony, where he spoke about his love of rugby and Charlotte, the 23-year-old took time to sign autographs and even left a message in the visitors book describing the Museum as “amazing and cool”.

“It's a great place,” he said.

Head of the Museum Steph Mastoris said he was delighted that Gavin had enjoyed his visit and hoped both he and Charlotte would return.

“It would be lovely to see them visit. I think it's a little too early to be talking about wedding bells, but I am sure lots of couples would take the chance to hold their big day at the Museum.

“Many couples these days are looking for an alternative to a church wedding or traditional register office and I think this new venue will be a popular choice, offering something a bit different.”
