Spend an hour at the National Slate Museum on Work Your Proper Hours Day

This Friday (24 February) is Work Your Proper Hours Day, so why not take a proper lunch hour and spend it at Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales' National Slate Museum?

Spending an hour at the museum during your lunchtime can make a real difference to your day. And where better to come than this charming museum which tells the story of the slate industry, set in the heart of the Eryri mountains? Come and see what a quarrymen's Caban looked like, and have a look at the largest working waterwheel on mainland Britain. This week is a special time at Llanberis, as the National Slate Museum plays host to the Model Railway Show until Friday.

If this all makes you feel a bit peckish or thirsty, call into our excellent café, Caffi'r Ffowntan, which is on-site. And remember, entry to the museum is free, thanks to the support of the Welsh Assembly Government, so there's no excuse for not taking an hour our of your day to visit the National Slate Museum.

Remember about our shop – which sells gifts of all kinds – from books to jewellery and loads of merchandise made from slate.

Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales is the new name for the National Museums & Galleries of Wales, which operates seven national museums across Wales. These are National Museum Cardiff, St Fagans: National History Museum, National Roman Legion Museum, Caerleon, Big Pit: National Coal Museum, Blaenafon, National Wool Museum, Dre-fach Felindre, National Slate Museum, Llanberis and the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea.
