Come and spend an hour at St Fagans National History Museum

This Friday (24 February) is Work Your Proper Hours Day, so why not take a proper lunch hour and spend it at St Fagans National History Museum?

Spending an hour at the museum during your lunchtime can make a real difference to your day. There's nowhere that compares to the idyllic peace at the one hundred acre site at St Fagans, one of Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales' sites, five minutes away from the bustling shopping centre at Culverhouse Cross.

St Fagans is home to over forty original buildings from all areas of Wales, showing how people lived during different periods in history. There's a quarryman's cottage from Rhosgadfan and a row of terraced houses from Rhyd y Car near Merthyr Tydfil – something for everyone at this amazing open air museum. And remember, entry to St Fagans is free, thanks to the support of the Welsh Assembly Government.

There's hundreds of quiet corners at St Fagans – the castle grounds and gardens are a haven of peace and tranquillity throughout the year. And if you fancy a cup of coffee or a bite to eat after your bracing walk, why not call into our restaurant in the main building or the Gwalia Tea Rooms?

St Fagans National History Museum is undergoing a series of exciting developments over the next few years. The museum will be further developed to tell the story of the peoples of Wales through the ages – from the beginning until today. Amongst the exciting redevelopments is the recreation of Gallery One, which opens in Spring 2007. A new coffee shop is also being built on the front of the main building.

Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales is the new name for the National Museums & Galleries of Wales, which operates seven national museums across Wales. These are National Museum Cardiff, St Fagans: National History Museum, National Roman Legion Museum, Caerleon, Big Pit: National Coal Museum, Blaenafon, National Wool Museum, Dre-fach Felindre, National Slate Museum, Llanberis and the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea.
