A 'Spectacular' Escape from the Football – Guaranteed!

We at Amgueddfa Cymru — National Museum Wales realise that not everyone's working themselves into a football frenzy as the World Cup enters its quarter final stage. And we're here to help…

So, if watching a group of men kicking a ball around a field for an hour and a half isn't your thing, and you don't know your Gerrard from your Crouch, get over to Caerleon for a weekend of Spectacular fun!

We've got scantily clad Italian gladiators at our Military Spectacular event this year – and they'll be fighting in the town's Roman amphitheatre throughout the weekend. Just the thing to get you off the sofa and speeding down the M4 by 11 am on a warm Saturday morning!

And if that's not enough, Caerleon is home to the National Roman Legion Museum, a one–stop–shop for all matters relating to Romans. Find out everything you needed to know – and more – about how the Romans lived, worked and died in Wales. Entry to the museum is free – thanks to the support of the Welsh Assembly Government.

Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales operates seven national museums across Wales. These are National Museum Cardiff; St Fagans: National History Museum; National Roman Legion Museum, Caerleon; Big Pit: National Coal Museum, Blaenafon; National Wool Museum, Dre-fach Felindre; National Slate Museum, Llanberis and the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea.

Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales celebrates its centenary in 2007. For more details go to the 07 pages on our website.
