Launch of National Waterfront Museum's Learning Zone

Steel giant Corus is going back to the future and helping to educate thousands at Swansea's National Waterfront Museum.

Both Corus and the steelworkers' union Community is supporting the £33 million attraction by sponsoring the Museum's Learning Zone.

This dedicated flexible learning space can be enjoyed by everyone from toddlers to pensioners for formal education and informal fun activities.

Welsh Assembly Government Minister for Education and Life Long Learning, Jane Davidson, visited the Museum to see for herself the learning facility that both Corus and the Community helped create.

Children from Llanmartin Primary School, Newport were also present and spoke to past and present Corus workers, some who feature on film at the Museum, to find out how working life has changed.

Speaking at the event, Jane Davidson said: “This new learning zone offers an excellent opportunity to bring the museum to life not only to children and young people but also to adults. I am confident that it will be a valuable resource for the local community and beyond and urge everyone to come along and take part in the activities already planned.”
