The £33.5 million museum, which tells the human stories of industry and innovation over the past 300 years, has had the thumbs up from visitors of all ages and from all over the world, as its ever-growing visitors’ book shows.

People have been describing their visits as ‘electrifying’ , ‘inspirational’ and ‘the best ever’.

One visitor from Australia simply summed up the experience as ’wow!’ while another visitor from the USA described the Museum as a ‘marvel of all museums’.

Local visitors have also been singing its praises with one saying ‘ the best ever and it’s in my home town! I’m really proud of it’.

Even stars like Cerys Matthews have taken time to comment on their visit. The 37-year-old singer wrote: ‘Thanks for the warm welcome’, and Welsh rugby’s Gavin Henson said it was ‘amazing!‘

The Museum has also won awards and recognition for its design, architecture and technology and also for being ‘family friendly’.

Head of the Museum, Steph Mastoris, said he was delighted by the seal of approval.

“The positive comments show not only what a fantastic museum has been created but also what a great attraction the Swansea area is and in particular the historic maritime quarter. “It has been heartening how many visitors from home, the rest of the UK and abroad have beaten a path to our door.”

As well as fascinating displays and the latest technology there are events, exhibitions and activities taking place throughout the year.

In September visitors will be able to take a look at Britain’s ‘hidden history’ of Asian, Black and Jewish people’s experience of settling in the UK as part of the exhibition Connections.

There’s also a special learn and play session for toddlers, (Sept 19, 10.30 am and 12 noon). Admiral Insurance is also helping to keep history alive by helping fund Storytime on the Museum Magic Carpet (first Sunday every month) and the Waterfront Time Travellers (every Saturday).

Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales operates seven national museums across Wales. These are National Museum Cardiff, St Fagans: National History Museum, National Roman Legion Museum, Caerleon, Big Pit: National Coal Museum, Blaenafon, National Wool Museum, Dre-fach Felindre, National Slate Museum, Llanberis and the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea.

Entry to all Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales sites is free, thanks to the support of the Welsh Assembly Government.
