This year's lecture, given by Dr Fraser Hunter of the National Museums of Scotland, concentrates on how life differed on either side of the military line in the Roman frontiers in the British Isles and explains how modern archaeology helps us to understand these differences – both for Celtic and Roman societies.

Bethan Lewis, Museum Manager, National Roman Legion Museum explained, “Each year, the National Roman Legion Museum celebrates the birthday of the Emperor Augustus, after whom the Legion was named, by hosting an Annual Lecture. This event is designed to bring to life some of the themes and subjects covered by the Museum.

Tickets, costing £3 each, are available for the lecture, which takes place in the Junior School Hall, Endowed School, Caerleon at 3.00 pm. You can get yours by calling the National Roman Legion Museum on (01633) 423134. Ticket holders are invited to drink to the health of the Legion with a glass of wine afterwards at the National Roman Legion Museum.
