Activities galore for the whole family in south-east Wales this October

Visitors to Big Pit and the National Roman Legion Museum can enjoy a host of fun activities this October.

Let Paul Robeson Sing! is an exhibition telling the story of the life and struggle of the American actor, singer and civil rights campaigner who became a working class hero in Wales, and was taken to the hearts of the Welsh people. The exhibition documents his struggle against intolerance and prejudice in a moving and inspirational way.

The exhibition opens on 30 Sept and closes on 12 October.

Also during October, Image and Word showcases the work of local school children who have worked with artist Keith Bayliss and poet Peter Read to create artwork that weaves images and words together, inspired by the colourful posters and prints of Peter Paul Piech.

The exhibition opens on National Poetry Day, 5 October, and will include a celebration of the work with readings and performances by Peter Read and the children.

Meanwhile, at the National Roman Legion Museum in Caerleon, families can take part in Gallery Trails, and even win a prize if the trail is completed. There is also a range of enjoyable family activities every weekend, including dressing up as a Roman soldier or lady and getting creative with the Art Cart.
