Get musical and crafty this weekend

This weekend will be a mix of music and creative fun at Swansea's National Waterfront Museum.

Kicking things off on Saturday (4 July at 1:30pm) will be the regular workshop Gener8, a hands-on practical session ideal for budding engineers. Delivered by XL Wales, this month's theme is suspension.

Then, things get a bit musical on Sunday (5 July at 12pm) as the Swansea Bay Concert Band take to the stage for Tunes@Noon. The two-hour musical interlude will include modern music from a range of film and TV programmes including Shrek, Mary Poppins and Miss Marple. They will also perform well-known pop themes from performers such as Eric Clapton and Robbie Williams. It will be the sort of easy listening music that everyone will enjoy.

And, if you love arts and crafts, then make sure you come along to Creation Station (5 July at 1:30pm) - a special workshop designed to introduce families to crafty ideas they can do at home. This month the theme is shopping and those attending will have the chance to paper weave shopping baskets.

"There's plenty going on this weekend at the Museum for families to come along and enjoy," said Events Officer, Delyth Thomas. "We've also got lots to look forward to next week including a special summer lecture on Monday 6 July all about the astronomical discoveries of the Herschel family as well as the return of the stardome."
