Radio programme recorded at the National Wool Museum for the first time

For the first time ever BBC Radio Cymru’s Talwrn y Beirdd will be recorded from the National Wool Museum on Tuesday 1December at 7pm.

Two duals will be recorded on the evening, between Ffostrasol and Y Garfan and between Ffair Rhos and Beca. Although they are on a different side of the river to the Museum, in Ceredigion, Ffostrasol is the most local team; their opponents, Y Garfan, come from Carmarthenshire.

The other dual will be between Ffair Rhos from Ystrad Meurig area in north Ceredigion and Beca from Pembrokeshire. This is a dual between poets, their teams and the three counties of Dyfed.

Talwrn y Beirdd is a poetry competition that has been broadcast by Radio Cymru for 30 years, since 1979.

Joanna Thomas, Acting Manager of the National Wool Museum said: “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to host such a highly respected programme of this quality. Talwrn y Beirdd has played a key role in keeping the Welsh tradition of competing among our bards alive, and we welcome it warmly to Dre-fach Felindre and to the National Wool Museum.”
