Books Swap hits the Waterfront

Having a spring clean? Fancy a new collection? Then come along to the Book Swap at the National Waterfront Museum, this weekend (2 & 3 April).

The event, organised with Oxfam Bookshop and the Environment Centre, will be a chance for visitors to offload their unwanted books and discover some different reads in exchange - and all for free!

“It’s the first time the Museum has hosted a book swap and hopefully it’ll be the start of many,” said Events Officer at the Museum, Miranda Berry. “Not only is it a fantastic way to help the environment, but we’re hoping it’ll be a lot of fun too,” she added.

Phil Broadhurst, Manager of Oxfam's books and music shop in Castle Street, Swansea said: “Through our shops OXFAM is always keen to encourage people to think about re-using and recycling, so it is great to be taking that message out into the community with events like this.”

Members of the public are encouraged to bring along two or more good quality or used books to exchange for swap tokens - all books should be in a readable condition and a book-for-book token system will be in place.

Also taking place between 1 and 4pm on both days is a drop-in Crafty Books Workshop for families where they’ll get the chance to turn tattered and torn books into new crafty creations.

• The Book Swap will take place on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 April between 11am and 4pm.
