New Coity Coal Tip Trail - from coal mining spoil heap to nature reserve

A new trail was launched on Thursday 14 June 2007, which means visitors will be able to get closer to nature at Coity Tip, next to Big Pit: National Coal Museum, Blaenafon, which is gradually being colonised with rare and special plants and animal species.

Welsh furniture: A new story

The result of 16 years research by author Richard Bebb, ‘Welsh Furniture 1250 – 1950, A Cultural History of Craftsmanship and Design’ - published by Saer Books and produced with the assistance of Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales and Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru – National Library of Wales - was officially launched at St Fagans: National History Museum on Friday, 15 June 2007.

New sounds at St Fagans

The new bell which has been cast especially for St Teilo’s Church - moved stone by stone from its home on the flood plain of the River Lougher near Pontarddulais to St Fagans: National History Museum - was rung for the first time today (Monday 4 June 2007).

Royal visit to National Museum Cardiff

National Museum Cardiff will be closed on Tuesday 5 June 2007 due to a function being held by the National Assembly for Wales at which Her Majesty The Queen will be the principal guest. For security reasons, it will not be possible to open the Museum to the public. We apologise for any inconvenience.

St Fagans springs into summer

Record visitor figures and new appointments well for summer at the Museum. The recent change in weather hasn't dampened spirits at St Fagans: National History Museum, Wales' top tourist attraction. A successful start to the season saw visitor figures reaching a record high and with some exciting new plans being drawn up, the Museum can look forward to summer with confidence.
