The National Wool Museum is urging people not to get rid of their plastic bags but to bring them to the Urdd National Eisteddfod in Carmarthen next week (28 May - 2 June) to help create a ‘sustainable rug.'

Two of Wales’s most prominent national institutions, Amgueddfa Cymru - National Museum Wales and the National Library, are sponsoring the Crown at this year’s National Eisteddfod at Mold in August.

During a ceremony to be held at the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth on Friday 18 May, the Crown will be formally presented to the Eisteddfod - part of a series of events to mark the centenary of both Amgueddfa Cymru and the National Library and a recognition by them of the contribution of the Eisteddfod to Welsh cultural life.

On 19 May 2007, the National Slate Museum , Llanberis will celebrate its ‘twinning’ with the Slate Valley Museum in Granville, New York State, underscoring the lasting ties between the people of the United States of America and Wales.

One of Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales’ key centenary events, it will highlight the significant cultural and historical ties between the people of the slate quarrying communities of north Wales and those of the slate region in the USA – known as the slate belt.
