Around 100 species of planthopper are found in the British Isles. The present handbook to their identification was produced 40 years since when much taxonomic work has been carried out - resulting in name changes to many species. Also a few species have been added to the UK list and many new distribution records made.

This long-term project will result in a revision of the planthoppers of the British Isles, to include new distribution data and new taxonomy. It will be published in the Handbook series of the Royal Entomological Society, and will include colour plates. In the meantime several small taxonomic papers will be published.
