Curator: Invertebrate Biodiversity (Mollusca)

Areas of Responsibility:

Management and access of the Mollusca collections including collection enquiries, visitors, loans and acquisitions. Research and interpretation of the collection through display, exhibition, social media, outreach and publication.

Qualifications, memberships and relevant positions

BSc Ecology & Environmental management (Cardiff), Member of the Natural Sciences Collections Association (NatSCA), Member of the Conchological Society of Great Britain & Ireland.

Research Interests

Primary interests are focused on the historical research of the Melvill-Tomlin collection. Current projects include research and imaging of historic type specimens with publication on the online Mollusca Types Catalogue, research on the Monterosato molluscs in the Melvill-Tomlin and Chaster collections and working towards online access and transcription of the J. R. le B. Tomlin archive. Also, co-author of the book ‘The new molluscan names of César-Marie-Felix Ancey’. Interests additionally lie in promotion of the collection through social media, particularly blogs and the Departmental Twitter account @CardiffCurator.
