Families

Voted as one of the best free places to go in south-east Wales by Netmums.com, St Fagans is a great day out for explorers of all ages.

Set in a mixture of beautiful open grounds and ancient woodland, the Museum has re-erected over 40 original historic buildings to show you how Welsh families have lived, worked and played through the ages.

Meet friendly craftspeople such as the Clogmaker and Blacksmith and learn about weaving and milling flour.

Visitors love meeting our animal residents; we have cows and sheep roaming the Museum’s fields and you can see ducks, hens or even piglets down on Llwyn-yr-Eos Farm.

There's plenty of open space to run around and explore and if all that fresh air has tired you out, catch a lift on our tractor ride and visit our restaurant, which sells children’s meals and lunchboxes, or we have plenty of outdoor spaces for you to eat your own picnic.

Ask at the main entrance about our packed programme of fun events that include cookery demonstrations, re-enactments and hands-on art and craft activities.

Our historic buildings are, by their very nature, small and old. The limited space available in these buildings means that we are unable to admit pushchairs or prams. We kindly ask that you leave these outside of the buildings. Pushchairs and prams are permitted inside the larger buildings of Oakdale Workmen’s Institute, St Teilo’s Church and Gwalia Stores.
