These two hour taster sessions are the perfect way try out a new craft.  As part of a small group led by a friendly expert, you’ll have the chance to get really hands on. Pick a session or two from the following list - all at the very special Craft Weekend price of £20.  There are a limited number of spaces available for each session - advance booking is recommended:

  • Stone letter carving: Get a feel for carving tools and techniques as you explore the art of stone letter cutting with Roland Edwards.
  • Needle Felting (Saturday only): Learn the technique of needle felting as you create your own mini creature from British wool fibre with Ruth Packham www.ruthpackham.com
  • Cross stitch: Subversive stitching - traditional techniques for modern messages #craftivism www.twinmade.com
  • Machine Embroidery: A chance to explore the creative side of a sewing machine - texture, text and pattern in free motion with Lisa Porch.
  • Wood Carving: Get a feel for carving tools and techniques as you make a simple wooden butter spreader with Vic Phillips www.singlemaltteapot.com         
  • Mono Printing: Using patterns, colour and texture  - mono printing is quick and spontaneous. The perfect introduction to printmaking processes ACTIVITY CANCELLED
  • Soap Making (age 16+): Create your own cold process soap and washballs with Sally Pointer www.sallypointer.com
  • Papercraft: Create your own unique bouquet of paper flowers with Becky Adams www.beckyadams.co.uk
  • Leatherwork: Learn how to cut and stitch leather to create a simple card wallet  with Museum clogmaker Geraint Parfitt.
  • Flint Knapping: Have a go at flint knapping – the way your Stone Age ancestors made their tools. With Karl Lee www.primitive-technology.co.uk

Suitable: Age 12+ (children under 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult). The price of your ticket includes access to all tools and materials needed for the activity.

Parking: Standard parking charges apply for this event.

Accessibility: The locations for these sessions may be up to a 10 minute walk from the main entrance building. Please collect a map on arrival and allow plenty of time to reach the activity location – all sessions will start promptly at the advertised time. We expect the carpark to be busy so allow plenty of time to park (we suggest at least an hour).

Refunds and Exchanges: It will not be possible to refund or exchange these tickets – by purchasing a ticket you agree to these terms and conditions. Tickets are available to purchase in advance via Eventbrite – any remaining spaces will be sold on the day on a first come first served basis.
