Suitability All

Our Prefab is a favourite with staff and visitors – so we’re delighted to welcome The Prefab Museum project to St Fagans this summer.

These prefabricated homes were designed to last 10-15 years when they were built between 1946 and 1948. But hundreds have survived, lived in and loved by their residents.

Elisabeth Blanchet and Jane Hearn, co-directors of the museum, will be joined by curators from St Fagans to celebrate the history Britain's post-war prefab homes, their architecture and designs, and the communities that grew up around them. They’d love you to share your memories, photos, and locations of prefabs to help them document and record this vital part of 20th century social history.
