Dussehra is a popular Indian festival celebrated by Hindus all over the world. This follows nine days of festivity called Navratri which means nine nights in Sanskrit. The festival signifies the triumph of good over evil.

One of the interesting feature of Navratri is the Garba and the Dandiya Ras – dance performed by men and women in a big circle. The Dandiya Ras or Stick Dance is performed by holding small polished sticks made of wood. As they whirl to the intoxicating rhythm of the dance, men and women strike the dandiyas together, adding to the joyous atmosphere during nine evenings leading up to Dussehra on the tenth day.

Come and join the festivities with Indian Kathak Dance professional and community artist, Sarita Sood.
